Sometimes the biggest construction problems are the ones you can’t see.

In this project, we discovered the existing rooftop HVAC system didn’t provide enough fresh air ventilation to meet today’s requirements.

That meant finding a solution before construction moved forward.

It’s a reminder that buying an existing space doesn’t always mean the infrastructure is ready for a healthcare practice.
That’s why early due diligence matters.

A practice name can be more than just a name.

For Dr. Innocent Nwanya, Lagos Dental Centre is a reflection of where he came from and the kind of experience he wants every patient to have.

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Dr. Nwanya wanted to bring the warmth, hospitality, and sense of community he grew up with into every aspect of this practice.

The architecture, interior design, colors,
and patient experience all started with
one simple question:
“How do we make people feel welcome
the moment they walk in?”

That’s what this project is really about.

Most dental offices can’t just shut down construction for weeks every time equipment needs to move.

In this clip from LCTV Episode 7, Dr. Nabavi explains the challenge of relocating a large X-ray machine while the practice is still actively seeing patients.

That means construction sequencing has to be incredibly intentional:
• Temporary walls and protection
• Power coordination
• Maintaining patient flow
• Minimizing downtime

This is one of the biggest differences between building a luxury dental office versus a standard commercial space.

Construction starts long before drywall, finishes, or equipment installs.

At this stage of the Smilezeum project, we’re laying out future walls with string lines so the underground plumbing can be installed accurately before the slab goes in.

It may not look glamorous yet… but this is the foundation for everything that comes after.

Good planning underground prevents expensive surprises above ground.
