New year, new team, and so many new faces!

We had a great start to the year with O-week and got to meet many of the amazing incoming freshman. We were excited to talk to everyone about our team and the rover we are so passionate about. With the amazing turn out we were glad to see many of the same faces return to join us at our first on-boarding meeting. And now we get to move to the fun part of building not just a world class rover, but the next generation of world class engineers and scientists!!!

This won't be our only on-boarding event though, we have another meeting September 13th, stop by our table at MinerRama to learn more about it!

Josie Tyndorf is our PR Lead. She is a junior in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, and this is her third year on the team. As PR Lead she organizes events and socials, manages team merchandise, and takes photos and videos to document the team throughout the year. Her favorite rover memory is “staying up late with friends working on composites and machining and then going to Waffle House at three in the morning”. This year she is looking forward to learning new things and making more friends on the team.

Trenton Hyman is our Science Instrumentation Lead. A sophomore in Physics, this is his 2nd year on the team. As Science Instrumentation Lead he oversees the research, design, and the education of members for the science instrumentation the rover. His favorite rover memory is “singing Schmooper songs”, fun parodies created by members of the rover team. This year he looks forward to the chance of making it on the travel team that gets to attend URC.

Emma Espinosa is our Science Architect. A junior majoring in Biology, this will be her third year on the team. As Science Architect she oversees science education across the team and supports the science leads throughout the year, helping guide the development and ex*****on of rover science systems. Her favorite rover memory is “learning about new things and laughing with friends”. She looks forward to exploring new analysis techniques for the competition’s science task this year.

Marshall Reinkemeyer is our Basestation Lead. A junior in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, this will be his third year on the team. As Basestation Lead he oversees the rover's control software, collaborates on improvements, manages development projects, and tests and integrates new features into the main codebase. His favorite rover memory is “just hanging out with many of the other software members at a software social”. This year he looks forward to being a lead, hearing the ideas of members, and “coming in 1st at URC for a 3rd year in a row!”

Luke Kaiser is our Autonomy Lead. He has been on rover for four years and is a senior in Computer Science. As Autonomy Lead he ensures our performance in the autonomous navigation task at URC. His favorite rover memory is “when the rover would get stuck/unstuck on various rocks” during the 2026 URC autonomy task. This year he looks forward to the fine-tuning and improvement of our systems and passing rover knowledge on to future members.

Elisha Francis is our Simulation Lead. A sophomore is Computer Science, and this is his second year on the team. As Simulation Lead he manages the upkeep and feature expansion of the Simulator. His favorite rover memory is “Rover Reveal and all of the sim issues during it”. He is looking forward to implementing new big changes on the sim this year.

Sam Hajdukiewicz is our Software Architect. She is a senior in Computer Science, and this is her third year on the team. As Software Architect she makes decisions and designs for the overall architecture of the software used in MRDT and oversees all aspects of the software sub-teams. Her favorite rover memory was “watching our 2025 rover Talos successfully drive at a 45° sideways angle at competition and complete the autonomy task despite the fear of failure”. She looks forward to building up a new software team and culture as well as architecting improvements to the software systems.
