We had a great time hosting local boy scouts for a hands-on aluminum pour! Each participant created cast aluminum neck ties with the Scout emblem. The molds were 3D printed in our foundry, giving participants a unique look at how modern technology and traditional metalworking come together.

Thank you to Dr. Laura Bartlett and our American Foundry Society S&T chapter for making this an incredible event!

The MSE Department wrapped up a fun giving challenge to support the Phelps County Dream Center! 🎉 Students and faculty from Metallurgical Engineering faced off against Ceramic and Semiconductor Engineering to see who could collect the most canned goods and donations.

Metallurgical Engineering won, which meant a ceramic professor and student got pied in the face!

Thanks to everyone who donated and helped make a difference in our community!

The MSE Department Social was filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of fall spirit. 🍂 Families joined us for a fun-filled afternoon featuring an inflatable racecourse, outdoor games, candy galore, and a cozy firepit to warm up by. Events like these remind us what makes MSE so special — the people! Thank you to everyone who came out, brought your families, and made the day one to remember!

What happens to glass when you decrease temperature too quickly? It will crack into pieces due to stress. 💔
