We miss him. So much. There is rarely a day that goes by we aren’t quoting him or laughing over some memory. 💜
In 1983 when Bob was 19 years old, he quit college and moved to North Carolina to pursue his love of cars and racing and racing cars. He was so quick to do any task his first boss nicknamed him “Lightning”. Those days of working on the Grand National, Winston Cup and eventually Indy cars were some of his fondest. (Although he would never eat beanie weenies again claiming it’s all he lived on for 2 years).
One of his fondest memories was he and his buddies building a stock car out of borrowed parts in an old car wash and entering it in the Daytona 500. They didn’t win but that didn’t matter. The joy of being with friends and being around cars and racing was enough.
Bob left this Earth in 2021 unexpectedly and is missed by all who knew him! We honor him yearly with this annual Bob "Lightning" Castino Memorial Car Show so he can look down from above at all of his favorite things in one place: friends, family and CARS!!!
We invite you to join us at this great event that will be taking place during the City of Belleville's annual community festival called Lake Fest, presented by Meijer, Autokiniton and Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce. It will be a busy Sunday in downtown Belleville as the car show, the festival AND the Thrill In The Ville Hydroplane races will all be taking place simultaneously!
There is no fee to enter the show and vehicle registration will be day of event. Trophies will be given for Best in Show, Most Unique and Best Classic! There will be food trucks, live music and 50/50 raffles available as well. This event is sponsored by Friends and Family of Bob Castino
