Aftershock was formed in 1999 through the efforts of Jim Cast, a Principles of Engineering teacher at Sachem High School North campus. He, along with Carl Erickson, led the team through its rookie year, bringing in sponsorship from Symbol Technologies, a Long Island-based company that specializes in the production of barcode scanning technology. Additional support and sponsorship was provided by T

ony Horber, Kevin Kanakos of Peradata Technology Systems, and Fred Coste of Second Wind Aviation Safety Foundation. Unfortunately the team was unable to come up with funding in 2006 and could not compete that year. Since then the team has been revived and remains competitive in regionals and off-season events. The team competed in the Johnson & Johnson Mid-Atlantic Regional in New Brunswick, New Jersey in its inaugural season. The team is now a regular at the SBPLI regional, the New York City Regional and usually the World Championship event. The team is a regular at off-season events such as Battlecry at WPI, Bash at the Beach, and Deer Park Invitational.
