Today I had the privilege of attending the Southwestern Oregon Construction Sector Partnership launch.

I left feeling grateful.

Thank you to the organizers, presenters, and industry leaders who invested their time in bringing together contractors, educators, workforce partners, and community leaders to discuss the future of construction in Southwestern Oregon.

As the owner of a small specialty contracting business, it was valuable to hear the perspectives of companies of all sizes—from highway construction and homebuilding to workforce development, permitting, and apprenticeship programs. I appreciated the opportunity to share some of the unique challenges facing small specialty contractors while, even more importantly, listening and learning from others.

One of the greatest takeaways for me was the roundtable discussion. Sitting together, exchanging ideas, and respectfully discussing both opportunities and challenges reminded me that meaningful progress begins with conversation.

I left encouraged and thankful to have had a seat at the table.

Thank you again to everyone who organized this event and to each person who shared their experience and perspective. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn, build relationships, and contribute to the future of Oregon’s construction industry.
