Our Southern California team enjoyed participating in the 36th Annual APWA San Diego & Imperial Counties Chapter - APWA Open as a Hole Sponsor on Friday, July 31, at Coronado Golf Course.

Stationed on Hole #17 overlooking Glorietta Bay, our team welcomed golfers throughout the day with a fun chipping challenge, where participants earned raffle tickets for a chance to win a $100 Golf Mart gift certificate. Congratulations to the lucky winner, Josh Reeves, PE, Senior Engineer with San Dieguito Engineering! 🎉

🚧 Project Update: Caltrans District 2 - State Route 70 Cromberg Project 🚧

Construction continues to make steady progress on the State Route 70 Cromberg Project!

Crews have completed nearly all drainage crossings, are advancing roadway reconstruction and full-depth recycling operations, and continue paving, slope stabilization, and other roadway improvements.

Spanning more than 20 miles along State Route 70, this project will enhance safety and improve travel throughout the corridor. Ghirardelli is proud to provide construction management, materials testing, and inspection services in support of this important Caltrans District 2 project.

A big thank you to our team out there, Gary Lambeth, Jeff McKeehan, Michael Flashner, David Greene, and Riley Melvin for their continued dedication and hard work in helping keep this important project moving forward safely. 👏🚧

Associate, Jacquelyn Scesniak, recently participated in the first session of the APWA Southern California Young Professionals Golf Academy, where young professionals are learning the fundamentals of golf while preparing for future networking opportunities in the public works industry.

We're excited to see the team investing in professional growth, building new relationships, and developing skills that extend beyond the workplace. It's also great to see the value of mentorship in action, with Jackie attending alongside her mentor. 👏

Paul Bews, our Vice President of Strategy & Operations, has been elected Vice President of the CALINFRA Board of Directors for 2026–2027.

Congratulations, Paul, and congratulations to the full leadership team: Danica Bilicich-Mason as President and Mark von Leffern as Treasurer, with George Delano continuing as Immediate Past President. Our thanks as well to everyone stepping into CALINFRA's committee and leadership roles this year.

We're also behind President Bilicich-Mason and Executive Director Mark Kempton as they set the coalition's course for 2026–2027, and grateful for the work Mark and the team do to keep collaborative delivery moving forward across California.

Paul brings nearly 40 years of experience delivering complex transportation and infrastructure programs in alternative delivery environments across the U.S. and internationally. Alongside his officer role, he'll serve on CALINFRA's Membership & Events Committee, strengthening engagement and collaboration across the industry. Our President and CEO, Randall Bruner, also serves on the CALINFRA Board as Ghirardelli's alternate representative.

We're looking forward to the impact this team will make in the year ahead. 👏

Our team was excited to join the ribbon cutting on Monday, July 13, celebrating the completion of the City of El Cerrito - Del Norte Complete Streets Project! These improvements enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, drivers, and the entire community surrounding the Del Norte BART Station.🚶🚴🚆

We're proud to have been part of this project by providing Construction Management and Inspection Services, helping bring these important improvements to life. Congratulations to the City of El Cerrito and all of the project partners who worked together to create a safer, more connected, and more sustainable community! 👏
