It’s so exciting to share the soon to be released book, California Coastal, by the dynamic duo and ... and to reveal the stunning front and back cover shots by our talented friend !

California Coastal is beyond beautiful, thanks to the awe-inspiring California landscape and the featured coastal homes created by amazing architects, builders, interior and landscape designers.

One of our projects, a home so dear to us in Stinson, is included in the book. And our reclining beach Buddha graced the back cover! A beautifully resonant closing of a book that reveals the healing embrace of a home that sits in harmony with nature.

Hi, its Maia, SDC’s design and administrative assistant! I thought it would be fun to share a little behind-the-scenes of the process when using Zellige tile in our projects. We have chosen Anne Sacks Idris Zellige tile in a variety of colors and shapes which add so much to every space where it’s installed. Here’s where I come in: because this tile has natural color variation, I unpack every tile and mock up the layout on the floor so I can make sure the color variation is seamlessly distributed. This particular guest bath, which I worked on early in the pandemic (you’ll notice the mask!), is a great example of this process. The talented Narziss Medina, who’s worked on many of our projects, then installed the tiles flawlessly, creating the stunning result you see here.

For our Stinson Beach Retreat project, we collaborated with the amazing lighting designer to select fixtures that cast a soft light and reflect the natural beauty of the seaside surroundings. The entryway pendants are aptly named “Coral Pendants”, by designer Arturo Alvarez. The dining room fixture subtly evokes a school of fish, while the powder room pendants feature coral-inspired insets. In the primary bedroom, the entry lights gently mimic the contours of seashells. Thank you, Anna Kondolf, for partnering with us on these selections and making this home shine! ✨💫😊🌟

Congratulations to on the release of his beautiful book “The Food Forward Garden: A Complete Guide to Designing and Growing Edible Landscapes”! Christian’s approach to integrating edible and ornamental plants not only enhances the beauty of any landscape but also compliments the architecture of a home. His work has been a huge inspiration to us! Designing with food creates a lifestyle that connects us with nature, transforming gardens into vibrant, living spaces that nourish both body and soul. We are so proud to collaborate with Christian and his talented team on our clients’ landscapes and in our own home garden, which is featured in his book as “The Edible Woodland.” Cultivating our garden has not only brought us unexpected beauty but also a bounty of homegrown organic produce that has enriched our life.
