Last week, NAEMA members gathered in Montréal for the 2026 Spring Conference – and it was a week well spent 🇨🇦
Day 1 - Brett Popplewell, author and professor at Carleton University, opened with a keynote drawn from his book Outsider: An Old Man, A Mountain, and the Search for a Hidden Past – exploring what an octogenarian super athlete can teach us about memory, legacy, and longevity. A reminder that the conversations we have in this industry are about more than energy.
Day 2 - A welcome from our hosts CWP Energy Solutions. Alain Brisebois, CFA (President, CWP) set the tone, followed by Sam Ransbotham of Boston College’s Carroll School of Management / AI Editor at MIT Sloan Management Review on AI’s real opportunities and myths in the workplace. Patrick Decostre, President & CEO of Boralex Inc., then led a timely discussion on the shift from maximal to optimal energy production, with a Q&A facilitated by Jason Chee-Aloy of Power Advisory.
Day 3 - A farewell session from Ginger Hodge of Customized Energy Solutions, offering a third-party perspective on grid transformation and a MISO strategy update.
In between, attendees explored Montréal by e-bike, moped, and golf cart, made bagels, toasted the week on the terrace, and closed out Thursday evening with a gala dinner and circus performers in the Caf’Conc’. 🎪
Thank you to our speakers, sponsors, hosts, and everyone who made the trip to Montréal. Until next time.
