Demonstrating two core cooperative principles, MiEnergy and Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative (ACEC) joined together to show "Concern for Community" and "Cooperation Among Cooperatives" during the 13th annual REC Archery Fundraiser. During the event, they raised $7,001.
Proceeds were donated to the Waukon Skills USA Program at Waukon High School, with the money going toward the purchase of a new plasma cutter. Every year, the program builds a house, doing everything from design to construction to electrical work. Thank you to all the sponsors for their continued support of this program.

MiEnergy's Brad Dull (and wife Jodi), Brian Krambeer and Jenny Scharmer attended the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's (NRECA) annual Legislative Conference. It is an opportunity to meet face-to-face with lawmakers to champion the needs of rural America. More than 1,500 co-op leaders were briefed on key legislative priorities, including a push for smart energy policy to ensure reliable, affordable power for members we serve. CEO Krambeer also presented the FEMA reform legislation to all co-op delegates.

Shining Light on the 1960s

This month we highlight the fourth decade of your rural electric cooperative. We are 90 years strong and still reaching new heights!
💡 Trivia Question 4: How many high school students from how many states went on the Youth Tour in 1964? This was the first year that the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) began to coordinate the program and suggested the co-op representatives from each state arrange to be in Washington, D.C.💡

Avoid Energy Scams - Tip of the Month:

If you receive a call from someone stating you have overpaid your energy bill and you should provide your banking information or a credit card number to receive a refund, hang up because it's likely a scam. If you overpay your bill, your utility will apply the overpayment credit to your account balance or mail a check. They will not call and request your banking information to issue the refund.

The Crestwood FFA Chapter organized their “Feed the Farmers” event again this year and MiEnergy partnered with them to share electric safety messages. The FFA students put together sack lunches for area farmers to pick up at local ag cooperatives in Howard and Winneshiek Counties within the school district boundaries and MiEnergy provided handouts that included important safety tips for planting season around power poles and electricity. We urge members to use extra caution during the busy planting season and to remind others of the dangers of electricity also. It can help save a life.
You can find the safety tips by going to our website at https://www.mienergy.coop/safe-planting

This event demonstrates two cooperative principles: Cooperation Among Cooperatives and Concern for Community.

Pictured: Ms. Burt Crestwood FFA Chapter Co-Advisor, Clara K, Marina B, Kenzie M and Nolan S Thanks to all of these young students for thinking of our area farmers along with MiEnergy members who count their time in acres, and not hours.
