Proud to be apart of a monumental movement for MyRutherfordton!

Today, for the first time in over 15 years, Habitat for Humanity broke ground on new homes in Rutherfordton—marking the beginning of two of four new homes and a rental duplex in the Fairview Community. This is more than just construction; it’s about creating affordable homeownership opportunities for those who work in Rutherfordton, giving them the chance to build long-term wealth in a challenging housing market.

Transformations like this take time. What was once a blighted, abandoned property is now becoming a place where families can thrive—thanks to the dedication of the Redevelopment Commission, the Town of Rutherfordton, Dogwood Trust, and Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity. While there will always be challenges and differing opinions, progress requires patience. Removing blighted properties means navigating complex legal and physical barriers, but the result is worth it—revitalized communities, restored hope, and new beginnings for local families.

Today is a reminder that when we invest in housing, we invest in people, stability, and the future of Rutherfordton. 🏡✨

“Little” top soil strip today. One of my favorite things about habitat houses are you never know what your gonna get when you break ground. This site required nearly a 3 foot undercut to get down to buildable ground which makes an already difficult site even more challenging! Next week begins the fun part of constructing these two new house pads. Following that we will be hauling out topsoil so if you or someone you know needs some topsoil please let me know. If you supply a truck we can load. If trucks are needed we can supply that as well!

Our big project in Polk County is done and dusted!

Start to finish, Clearing, Grading, Storm water management, Gravel.

This project consisted of three home sites, 110x210 pad for a future shop and rework the driveway from one end of the property to the other.

It’s been a fun one! Now onto the next project.
