It's 2024 and some building departments are still requiring contractors purchase permits in person and with cash or a check. They print the permit on a large 8.5" x 14" card stock. Then at the bottom of their emails is this statement, "PLEASE CONSIDER THE ENVIRONMENT BEFORE PRINTING THIS EMAIL".😲

On July 22,24 the Calcerts HERS registry added a banner to their website that they were closing on 09/02/24. However, they stopped answering the phones and this is the response you get if you need site help. This company has been challenging since 2010 and they do not care about us as their customer. Moving on!!

Sadly, many contractors do not air seal or install the batt insulation correctly. But, this proves it can be done.

Notice of Workshop
Staff Workshop 2025 Energy Code Single-Family Peak Cooling Requirements
The California Energy Commission (CEC) will host a public workshop to present and discuss proposed changes related to peak cooling energy limits for single-family residential buildings for the 2025 update of the Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Code). These proposed updates aim to further encourage the use of cost-effective and technically feasible energy efficient building practices in the state.



The public can participate in the workshop consistent with the attendance instructions below. The CEC plans to begin promptly at the start time posted. The end time is an estimate based on the proposed agenda. The workshop may end sooner or later than the posted end time.

Well this is a new one! I thought this was a floor drain, but it is a supply for the bathroom. The flex duct is not sealed to the floor. This allows the heated air to leak around the duct and outside the home's conditioned space. This costs the homeowner money and makes the house uncomfortable. Sadly, we see this type of install frequently.

For the past few months, several building inspections have been completed using video. Inspectors contact the installing contractors, who are onsite and view the inspection remotely. This has been a great help in moving projects forward.
