🍂 It’s officially September! That means it’s time for another Spicer Group calendar page. Our September photo features the Forest Lake Dam Spillway Reconstruction.

⚫ The Forest Lake Dam in Michigan's Arenac County sustained significant damage during a May 2020 storm, leading to its failure. The Forest Lake Dam Association secured federal funding through the NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) program, and Spicer Group was hired as the owner’s engineer to manage the reconstruction project.

🔧 Spicer Group also designed the downstream restoration package consisting of the construction of a laydown/staging area and the reconstruction of approximately 300 feet of Wells Creek. Construction on this project concluded in 2025, and the lake was returned to its legal level.

✏️Spicer Group is excited to be working with Kaleva Norman Dickson Schools (KND Public Schools) on a new early childhood center.

🍎Last week, we attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the bond-funded project, which will provide an allocated learning space for preschool and kindergarten students in Manistee County’s KND district, along with a brand-new baseball field. Spicer will provide design and project administration services to ensure these students have a state-of-the-art learning environment.

👀Look at that! The roundabout at Freeland Road and Garfield Road in Saginaw County is coming along, and we wanted to keep you in the loop. Spicer Group loves to work on a roundabout project, and we couldn’t be more excited about how this one is rounding out.

🚧Thanks to the Saginaw County Road Commission for letting us partner with them to keep things rolling on the roadway!

🚂 Mayor Greg DiDonato has spent a lot of time in Dennison, Ohio, and he has never seen it look as good as it does right now. A downtown revitalization project is to thank for the fresh look, completed last year by W.E. Quicksall & Associates. The family-owned business joined Spicer Group in 2025.

🟡 A decades-long population boom in Forsyth County, Georgia, led the region to outgrow its municipal buildings, creating a need for a new county complex. The newly built Freedom Park Campus includes a 17-department administrative building to consolidate services. The three-building complex is also home to a new Employee Center for all county workers to utilize, with space for an employee health center, a fitness center, three retail spaces, and even a smoothie bar.

💧 The Tecumseh Dam rehabilitation project marked a significant investment in the long-term safety and operation of Red Mill Pond and the surrounding River Raisin corridor in Michigan's Lenawee County. Following a 2020 hydraulic study that identified several deficiencies, the Lenawee County Drain Commissioner worked with Spicer Group to evaluate the dam’s condition and develop a phased plan for improvements. What began as an assessment of the hydraulic performance evolved into a comprehensive rehabilitation effort focused on stabilizing the aging infrastructure, reducing failure risk, and extending the service life of a significant hazard dam that plays a central role in water level management and downstream protection.
