This Independence Day marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For nearly two centuries, America’s railroads have helped build, connect, and defend our nation while supporting the freedoms and prosperity enjoyed by generations of Americans.

To honor this historic milestone, Lake State Railway proudly presents commemorative locomotive No. 1776. This special paint scheme pays tribute to our nation’s rich heritage, those who bravely defend our nation, and the enduring role of railroads in America’s story.

Local food trucks, tours of a historic caboose, and a close up view of the steam locomotive cab were also enjoyed. This weekend, Lake State is celebrating our employees and their families with trips in conjunction with the Steam Railroading Institute and their historic steam locomotive Pere Marquette 1225. We ask that the public enjoy the steam locomotive from a safe distance and respect private property. As always, stay off railroad tracks and always think train.
