Part III in our “Legacy Series,” is the father/son duo of Kevin and Zachary Rappold. Father, Kevin, Premier’s Owner Direct Manager, has been working in the HVAC/Controls industry for 37 years. Meanwhile his son, Zac started his HVAC career in 2014 and began working in the building controls area after high school. They have a total of 49 years hands-on experience in commercial HVAC and controls.

What surprised Zac the most about working at Premier is the numerous opportunities to acquire new knowledge and since coming to Premier, he has learned to read and write logic, understand both networking and communication, as well as increased his service skills.

Zac’s father Kevin oversees Premier’s Service Department. When asked about working with his dad, Zac said, “My Dad, is my Manager, he truly understands my strengths and encourages me to work harder developing my skills. He pushes me to expand my knowledge and having the ability to reach out to my Dad is an incredibly valuable resource. If I have questions, he’s more than happy to answer them or help me get int touch with someone who can provide the information I need.”

Leadership is more than just guiding a business. It is about inspiring people, fostering growth and progress. Sometimes those inspired people are family. Reese Beatty is the third in the line-up of Premier owners’ children who have chosen professional development with Premier.

Reese joined Premier this summer interning as Premier’s Workplace Integration & Compliance Specialist, working out of the company’s Athens, OH office. Reese’s father, James Beatty, Principal & Vice President of Ohio Operation, helped start Premier’s Ohio operations in 2024, establishing the Athens office. James leadership, industry experience and dedication have been integral to Premier Ohio’s commercial success.

As Workplace Integration & Compliance Specialist, Reese is dedicated to assisting company growth. Her role is hybrid, she works to ensure human resource, as well as environmental health and safety laws and regulations are corporately administered and followed. She said that the experience of working at Premier strengthened her understanding of leadership, communication, and the importance of collaboration across an organization. Reece’s contributions through the oversight of all things human resource and safety continue to make a positive impact at Premier.

From ashes of war, a new state arose.

Happy “Anniversary of Creation,” to our beautiful West Virginia.

On this day in 1863, as the American Civil War raged, several northwestern counties of Virginia seceded from the country creating a new state right during the war. West Virginia is the only modern U.S. state created by splitting from another state during the American Civil War.

Today, it is known as the “Mountain State,” due to scenic mountains and rivers, but in the 1860’s was known more as one of the border states. Border states stayed in the Union but had people on both sides of the war.

Brooke Penny Taylor has been following in her father’s (John Penny’s) footsteps in the control business since 2016 and she wouldn’t change a thing. Early in her professional career, an opportunity to start as a controls technician and learn from her dad arose, so Brooke took it and the rest is history.

John Penny, Premier Principal & Vice President of West Virginia Operations, started Premier Energy Systems with Jerry Priddy in 2019. The leadership and strategic vision shared by John and Jerry have been the driver of Premier’s industry success. Brooke has been with the company since its inception. However, she began learning her industry trade as an HVAC/Controls Technician responsible for the installation, testing and troubleshooting of automated equipment and systems.

From Controls Technician, Brooke went on to become an Operations Engineer, followed by Vice President of Engineered Solutions. Keeping the legacy alive, Brooke was promoted to Vice President of Construction and became a Premier Owner in 2025. As Premier management, Brooke works alongside the other Premier Owners, Jerry Priddy, James Beatty and her dad, John; to not only honor the company’s legacy; but lead the vision for Premier’s next chapter of opportunities.

Jerry Priddy's son and Premier's Controls Technician, Austin Priddy has known from a young age where his career was headed.

Austin said he always liked opportunities to go to work with his Dad when he was a little kid. He decided very early on that he wanted to make his dream a reality and started working at Premier while still in high school. He's now been with Premier for almost three years.
