Janssen Fabrication is a growing metal fabrication and powder coating shop based in Pella, Iowa. We specialize in designing and building high-quality, custom metal products and dirt track components.
Weโre looking for a Design Engineer who enjoys turning ideas into real, buildable products while working closely with our shop team and customer base to bring designs to life. This is a mid-tier to advanced level position where there is a strong need to be independent in both project management and product design.

โข Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings within Autodesk Fusion
โข Revise and improve designs based on feedback, fabrication methods, and material availability
โข Maintain organized design files and documentation for repeat or future projects
โข Work directly with customers and internal team members to understand design needs and project requirements
โข Collaborate with shop personnel to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and buildable

โข Experience with CAD software and/or familiarity with 3D scanning; Solidworks, Inventor, Fusion, Scan-To-CAD or other applicable programs
โข Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes and tolerances (cutting, welding, forming, finishing)
โข Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate with both customers and shop staff
โข Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment

โข Prior knowledge of dirt track racing or the construction trades
โข Familiarity with powder coating and general finishing processes
โข Prior experience with manufacturing systems and CNC machine programming

โข Starting pay range: $40+ per hour, based on experience and skillset
