This October marks another work anniversary for Carla Boni, who has been part of ISM since 1997!

Carla joined as the company’s first Office Manager, back when ISM had just one customer and three tools. Since then, she’s learned the powdered metal industry from the ground up and grown into her role as Operations Manager.

Over nearly three decades, Carla has been there for some major milestones, from moving into the current facility to expanding molding and sintering operations.

As we celebrate Carla’s anniversary this October, we’re also celebrating everything she’s helped build along the way. Thank you for all you do, Carla!

Fred Billotte has been part of the powdered metal industry for nearly four decades, and he’s learned just about every side of the process along the way.

He started as a molding press operator in 1987 before moving into sintering, production management and plant leadership. For more than 23 years, Fred has brought that experience to VQC and helped keep operations moving forward.

We’re glad to have Fred on the team and to recognize everything he’s contributed over the years!

What happens after metal powder is pressed into shape?

Sintering is where individual powder particles metallurgically bond together, helping the finished component achieve the strength, hardness, and other material properties the application requires.

At COMTEC, our compaction and sintering capabilities support everything from complex geometries to high-volume production, with tightly controlled processes designed for consistent results.

Our sintering furnaces go to nearly 2500°, and our pressing techniques are as advanced as they come. See how we make durable, precise metal products:

On August 28, 2026 our division in Clearfield, PA called Vision Quality Components (VQC) held their employee picnic. It was a beautiful day! There was a delicious lunch catered by the Country Butcher and yummy desserts. Games, such as Jenga, Co****le, and Closest to the Pin, were played with great participation. We also distributed the Comtec T-shirt with our new logo to all the employees! Thank you to the employees of VQC for making this picnic a great one! A special thanks to Brenda and Kelly for all the planning! Great job!
