Over the weekend I realized there was some time to improve my office situation, the only problem was where o' where could I find a 10 foot 6 1/2 inch long desk at the height I desired? I couldn't believe that Ikea couldn't send me a solid table to put together, Amazon to the rescue... not a chance! 4 doors all fixed to latch, function and close properly. Each door presented different symptoms that I addressed in order to fix latches, lock mechanisms, stuck hydraulic closer, custom springs, and door swing. Last week I took it to some rotted window sills and installed new windows for a client as well as installing a new custom jamb/mortise lock and digital deadbolt for another. One of my favorite parts of my business, Jam Custom Carpentry is my halpers. I'm often surrounded by cute dogs who lend their unsolicited opinions and moral support while I'm working. For this client I hung two storm doors which involved custom cut hinges and mortise locks. My halper on this job, Gus, will get more out of his summer with his own dog door! I truly relish being responsible for putting the final touches on remodels and new builds. It is always satisfying for me to bring my client's vision to reality. The craftsman style trim is classic and timeless, from scribing the base to the floor to adding cove molding to the frieze board I enjoyed it all. JAM Custom Carpentry building vertical bike racks in the basement of the Commodore. This room in the basement was once the busiest speakeasy in all of Saint Paul, the tile from the bathroom is there to prove it. Special thanks to Tim and Bob for their help, I couldn't have pulled it off without them. I love history and old houses and buildings, it's a pleasure to be a part of working in and on them.
