This remodel in Mendota Heights is wrapped in factory-primed LP SmartSide lap siding, board & batten, soffit, fascia, trim, and new cedar entry posts.

Because the siding is factory primed, the homeowners have the flexibility to choose the exact paint color that fits their vision once construction is complete.

Ever wish the space under your deck stayed dry?

That's exactly what this custom under-deck drainage system was built to do.

Instead of rain dripping through the deck boards onto the new concrete patio below, water is collected above, tapered toward the house, and directed into an aluminum gutter system. The result is a finished ceiling underneath and a dry, usable outdoor space even after it rains.

For this project in Blaine, we also completed the siding, soffit, fascia, gutters, and this custom drainage system for the new four seasons porch and deck. The only thing left is wrapping the support posts under the porch to finish it off.

It's one of those details you don't notice until you realize how much more functional it makes the space.

Why does siding almost always fail near the bottom first?

It's because that's where the moisture lives.

In Minnesota, the lower portion of your home's exterior takes a beating from:
✔ Snow sitting against the house all winter
✔ Spring snowmelt
✔ Rain splash-back from the ground
✔ Gutters and downspouts dumping water near the foundation
✔ Freeze-thaw cycles that repeat year after year

Over time, even quality siding materials can start showing signs of trouble if moisture is allowed to linger. We commonly see:

Rotting wood siding and trim
Swollen or deteriorating engineered wood products
Fiber cement damage near grade
Soft spots around windows and lower wall sections
Hidden moisture damage behind the siding

The good news? Most of these issues start small and can often be addressed before they become major repairs.

Completed ✔

This new 14' x 24' detached three-season porch is ready for summer in Hugo.

The homeowners wanted a comfortable outdoor space they could enjoy with a little more protection from the elements, while still fitting the requirements of their neighborhood association.

This project included treated lumber framing and decking, a covered roof system, matching vinyl siding, two new stair systems, and framed screen openings ready for the homeowner's screen installation.

One detail we're especially happy with is how naturally the porch fits the property. Even though it's a detached structure, it feels like it was always meant to be there.

We also appreciate the opportunity to work alongside J. D. Nelson Construction LLC on this project.

Looking forward to seeing this space put to good use this summer.

We're making progress on this lake home addition in Forest Lake.

We're proud to be working alongside Dave Schultz Construction once again on this project, a builder we've worked with for many years.

Our crew is currently installing LP SmartSide board and batten siding, LP SmartSide soffit, aluminum fascia, and custom aluminum foundation wraps that will help tie the addition seamlessly into the existing home.

One of the biggest challenges with an addition isn't building the new space, it's making it look like it was always part of the home. Once the addition is complete, we'll be residing the original home so the finished exterior comes together as one cohesive design.

The siding is currently installed in primed material and will soon be professionally painted in the homeowner's custom-selected colors.

Looking forward to sharing the finished result.

Progress is taking shape on this custom 14'x24' three-season porch in Hugo!

This project is a little unique. Because the community association does not allow attached structures, this porch is being built as a detached outdoor living space that will give the homeowner a comfortable place to enjoy Minnesota summers while staying protected from insects and the elements.

So far we've completed the treated lumber framing, treated deck surface, and installed an under-deck bug screen to help keep unwanted pests from finding their way up through the flooring system.

Next up:
✔ Stair construction
✔ Framing the screen openings
✔ Roof deck completion
✔ Roofing installation

We're also proud to be collaborating with our friend J. D. Nelson Construction LLC on this project. Justin brings extensive framing experience and it's been great working together to create a quality outdoor living space for this homeowner.

Projects like this are a great reminder that every property presents unique opportunities and challenges. Whether it's a roof replacement, siding project, deck, porch, or outdoor living space, finding the right solution starts with understanding the homeowner's goals.

This deck project in Hastings started with a new home and a common situation.

The homeowners wanted a deck, but the builder option didn't offer the size, layout, or features they were looking for.

We built a custom two-tier deck designed around how they actually wanted to use the space.

Featuring Trex Transcend decking in Spiced Rum, Westbury Aluminum Deck Railing, Azek skirting and risers, and Diamond Pier footings.

The result is a low-maintenance outdoor living space with plenty of room for entertaining and great views of their wooded backyard.

Not every cabin needs to stay a log cabin.

This Duluth-area cabin was starting to see deterioration in the lower logs where years of snow and moisture had taken their toll. Rather than continuing the cycle of repairs and maintenance, the homeowners chose a long-term solution.

We transformed the exterior with LP SmartSide shake siding to maintain the cabin character while creating a more durable, low-maintenance exterior built for northern Minnesota weather.

The project also included aluminum-wrapped windows and an aluminum skirt around the base to help protect some of the areas most vulnerable to moisture.

The result is a cleaner, more protected exterior that still feels right at home in the Northwoods.
