Harold was an ally to the masonry cause in Oregon, working as a salesman for both Basalite and Willamette Graystone / Pumilite. Eventually, he was the Executive Director of the Masonry Institute of Oregon, where he advocated for contractors and suppliers in the ongoing effort to get masonry involved in as many projects as we could, and convince the design team masonry was more versatile than just "red brick and cinder blocks." The guys in the field might not have known Harold directly very well, but he indirectly affected the lives of many J&S employees. Harold was also about the nicest guy in the industry, and was always a pleasure to deal with. He will be missed.

Today, we honor and remember Harold Friberg. A dedicated individual who contributed immensely to the masonry & tile industry. His passion, hard work, and unwavering commitment will always be cherished.

Harold had most recently served as Executive Director of the Masonry and Ceramic Tile Institute of Oregon and previously in other positions in the masonry industry.

There will be a Service on Saturday, August 12th at noon in Pathway Church, 3848 NE Division Street, Gresham, OR 97030

The family has suggested that donations can be made to My Father’s House in Harold’s honor. This is a program where Harold and his wife have donated their time as volunteers.

Sadly, J&S had to say goodbye to one its own this week.

Pete Sitton was one of our key hodcarriers, and had been an important part of our operation in Oregon since he was hired in February of 2004. There wasn't an employee at J&S in the state who didn't know Pete, and his ability to keep a job site running was unparalleled. Foreman fought over who got to get Pete on their job site, because they knew very well he could keep the crew working efficiently even if the foreman had to take care of something else.

Pete will be missed by everyone at J&S. There were probably 200 people at his Celebration of Life on Friday, and a huge number of those were current or former co-workers of Pete. He touched the lives of so many people.

Pete worked up until the day he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in August and did everything he could to beat it. He stayed in touch with many of his co-workers/friends (they were often the same thing). He passed at home early Saturday, April 15. He is survived by his wife Jeannie and his sons Jaiden and Ryder.

If anyone has additional pictures of Pete, feel free to post them in the comments below. We're sure his co-workers, friends and family would appreciate seeing them.

Pete Sitton, one of our long term hodcarriers and a key part of J&S' success for the last 18 1/2 years, recently got some devastating health news. Another employee of ours started a GoFundMe to help out the Sitton family. Hopefully you can donate, or share with others who might do so, as well.

We've been getting a lot of questions about COVID-19 and how it impacts our employees and our projects. This letter is intended to address those concerns for Washington projects and employees.

Beginning the week of April 13th, all employees will be required to wear masks while on the job site for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will provide some that we are having manufactured, or you may wear your own.

We have also attached CDC guidelines on how to wear masks, and how to take care of the mask once you have them.

(A letter for Oregon was in the previous post).
