Carbon monoxide detectors are an inexpensive investment which can save your life. Most carbon monoxide detectors have a life expectancy of 7-10 years and should be replaced. Smoke detectors also have a similar life expectancy.

Just a reminder to routinely replace your air filters. Depending on the size of the air filter you may have to change it more often. 1” filters typically last 1-3 months, 2” filters typically last 3-6 months, and 4” filters should last 6-12 months. There could be variables which could shorten filter life such as the use of candles, chemicals, living in a rural area, road construction.

Every time you replace your filter make sure to write a date on true filter.

Just another Saturday. When you are replacing your hvac system remember to upgrade to a 4” filter box. This will allow you longer intervals between filter changes and the ability to utilize drop in electronic air cleaners.

Air conditioner season is almost over. Please don't forget to prepare your furnace. I highly recommend replacing new air filter as well as testing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. If they are not working or are over 10 years old please purchase new ones.

New laws have been implemented to help reduce the effects of refrigerant on the environment. The Environmental protection agency has implemented these laws which has required a transition from r410a refrigerant to new A2L refrigerants. With the use of new A2L refrigerants, new safety devices are required due to the semi-flammability of the new refrigerant. These devices sense A2L leaks and immediately shut off the compressor and dilutes the concentration of refrigerant by dispersing it.

With the rollout of the new equipment for A2L refrigerants there has been a few obstacles with supply in equipment and availability of A2L (r454b) refrigerant.

Make sure to change your filters regularly. It helps to use a marker and date your filters.

A dirty filter can be bad for your health and cause issues to your HVAC system.

Make sure to install at least two carbon monoxide detectors in your home (within 15 feet of sleeping quarters) and to install smoke detectors in every bedroom.
