You may have noticed that we post "Safety Shares" every Monday, but what on earth is a safety share?? 🤔🤔

A ⚠Safety Share⚠ is an informal discussion or presentation done daily or weekly at mines, factories, and construction sites, to remind people to be safe!🚧🛠 Known by many other names (Toolbox Talk, Tailgate Safety Meeting, Safety Moments, etc), it's a great time to remember where emergency equipment is, what sort of safety gear is best for the job, and general common sense when working with things like big machinery, explosives, and the hazards of everyday life . It's practices like these that make a safe industry!

But we think these jobs shouldn't have all the fun... ☞What's a safety share YOU could share for your school or work??☜ Comment below and we might feature yours next Monday!

This baby ain't your typical sandbox dump truck. Mines need heavier equipment for their operations. A "haul truck" like this one is 3 stories tall, and can hold 447 US tons of coal... Santa could fill 894,000 Christmas stockings with that much! 😮😮😮 It's also enough coal to fuel a power plant for an entire day . But don't ask us what it takes to drive a truck like this...

There are 3 different methods: deep shaft mining (underground), solution mining (above-ground, AKA surface mining), and solar evaporation.This clip shows part of the deep shaft mining process!

After an area has been mined, it is important to help native plants and trees regrow. One of the problems faced at former mine sites is foilage struggling to grow back. Here's where pocking comes in! Small holes called "microbasins" are dug, where seeds can be planted and water runoff can collect. This process encourages natural regrowth, and eventually, you'd never know there was once a bustling mine! Now that's a responsible industry!
