✨ EXPLORING CAREERS: SRMG WELCOMES ALA STUDENTS ✨

On Friday, April 17, Salt River Materials Group’s (SRMG) Aggregates Unit participated in the Accelerated Learning Academy (ALA) Job Shadow Day. This event gave students the opportunity to tour SRMG plants and learn about the many job opportunities within the company. 💫

The students’ first stop was at SRMG’s corporate office, where they met CEO Ruben Guerrero Jr. and members of the Aggregates team. The students then toured the Glendale, Beeline, and Dobson plants. At each location, they learned about the production of aggregates, quality control of materials, and the safety considerations and risks associated with working on a jobsite. Students also had the opportunity to tour the lab, mechanic shops, and scale houses, where they observed staff in action. After completing their job shadow, they were treated to lunch at Talking Stick Golf Course before returning to school.🥽

During lunch, the staff got to learn more about the students, including their interests and future goals. They even learned some new slang along the way. In return, the staff shared stories about their families and memorable experiences working for SRMG. Overall, both the students and staff had a great time interacting with one another.

Events like the ALA Job Shadow Day provide a valuable opportunity for SRMG to connect with the community’s youth by allowing them to observe daily operations and learn more about the materials the company produces.

SRMG Thanks Salt River Schools Accelerated Learning Academy staff for allowing these young scholars time to learn and take an interest in the company. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!🎉

On Thursday, April 2nd, Salt River Materials Group’s (SRMG) Aggregates unit participated in the 2026 Salt River Schools Education Fair. This year’s theme, “From Roots to STEM,” aligned perfectly with the company’s industry and the educational opportunities it provides. 🔬

The Aggregates team showcased a variety of rock products produced at SRMG’s aggregate plants to the children and families in attendance. Director of Aggregate Operations Kyle Henderson and Purchasing Manager and Community Member Joseph Tahmahkera were present to share their knowledge about the different rock products, how the rocks are crushed and processed, and how they are used in everyday construction and infrastructure.

Families also had the opportunity to take home a rock painting kit, which included a river rock, paint, and brushes. Each kit was carefully packaged so children could easily pick one up and enjoy a fun, creative activity inspired by the materials showcased at the booth. 🎨

Overall, the Aggregates team thoroughly enjoyed their time interacting with families and members of the community. Events like the Education Fair provide a meaningful opportunity to showcase SRMG’s products while educating youth about the industry in an engaging and hands-on way.

SRMG thanks Salt River Schools for the invitation to participate in this year’s Education Fair and looks forward to being part of future events. ✨
