This summer, Salt River Materials Group had the honor of welcoming four enrolled Salt River Community youth Natalia, Jordan, Kylee, and Luciana to the SRMG team through a collaboration with the SRP-MIC Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Summer Youth Program.🌟
Based at the SRMG Chaparral Office, the students gained hands-on workplace experience while assisting our administrative team with clerical duties such as answering phone calls, entering freight invoices, filing documents, and learning about SRMG’s sales and marketing operations.
Throughout the two summer sessions, the students also had opportunities to step outside the office and experience different areas of SRMG firsthand. They visited our aggregate facilities and traveled to the cement plant in Clarkdale, Arizona, where they worked alongside employees, learned about laboratory operations and workplace safety, and gained a better understanding of SRMG’s history and how our materials contribute to construction projects throughout the Salt River Community and surrounding areas.🥽
Natalia, Jordan, Kylee, and Luciana each left a lasting impression on the SRMG employees who had the opportunity to work with them this summer. As Natalia enters her junior year and Kylee begins her Sophomore year, we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and build upon their experiences with SRMG.🍎
For seniors Jordan and Luciana, their time with SRMG will continue through a new student internship opportunity! Jordan accepted a position with our Quality Control team as a Lab Technician Student Intern, while Luciana accepted a position with our administrative team as an Administrative Student Intern. ✨
