How crazy is this?

Yes, that is a pier that is sticking out of the brick...

Looks like whoever did this tried to mortar around the pier to keep it "secure". The chimney was separating because of foundation shifting, so they attempted to stablize it with a pier... and didn't do it well.

You can't put a "bandaid" on one small part of the problem without looking at the whole picture.

Ya'll, foundation repair in the state of Texas is NOT regulated. This is why you need to make sure whoever is doing the repairs is legit. Check reviews, ask for references, ask your neighbors & friends for referrals.

Sometimes gutters fall into "out of sight, out of mind", however gutter maintenance is important. When clogged with leaves & debris, water cannot drain as intended which can cause issues on your foundation. Gutters should extend at least 5 feet away from the foundation. Gutter extensions can be found at your local hardware store. They are a relatively easy & inexpensive step that can greatly improve your home's drainage.

This is one of the challenges of having a pier & beam home.

The beam under this house is starting to rot due to all the extra moisture we have been getting. (Picture was taken this morning).

If you have a pier & beam home, it is important to make sure you have proper drainage. You want water to flow at least 5 feet away from your foundation. Also, make sure to keep your crawlspace well ventilated to allow air flow in to help keep it dry & mold free.

❤️ Co-workers that brew more coffee when the pot is

❤️ The space heater/fan under my desk (wish this
weather would make up its mind)

❤️ When you-know-who finally ran out of perfume

❤️ Dry erase boards that actually erase

❤️ The brave soul that cleaned out the office fridge

❤️ When I'm early to a meeting & score a seat near the
door

❤️ Finding the good pens in the office supply cabinet

❤️ Remembering the new password that I just changed
the day before
