Stained Glass Windows
These stained-glass windows are a complete restoration. The damaged panes of art glass have been replaced. The minor cracks have been stabilized with a clear sealant applied directly over the crack or with a copper foil at the time of re-leading. Severely broken hand painted panes or art glass have been replaced with replicated pieces. All panes were completely re-leaded.
The leaded glass windows were commissioned in the early 1900’s. Glass formulas during this time contained impurities in the silica sand, soda ash, lime, and oxides. The impurities produced different variations of density and color not available today. The texture combinations, density and color complicated the process for matching the old glass however, the replacement art glass used for the severely broken panes have been closely matched.
The Cavallini Co. is the oldest family owned and operated stained glass studio in San Antonio. They have some of the most talented craftspeople, artist, and designers in the industry. They also are a great source for glass. It is always an honor to work with their artist and all three generations of the CAVALLINI Family.
