Our first booth at Plaza Mercado made this year’s United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Conference a special one for Parra & Co!

Eduardo Parra, Elsi Parra and Esteban Di Loreto represented our team in Fort Worth. We had a great time, and the booth gave us a chance to introduce our firm and talk about our work with people from across the country. The atmosphere was welcoming, and we enjoyed being around fellow Hispanic business owners with so much enthusiasm for what they do.

Between time at the booth, sessions on transportation investment and growing electric utility demand gave our team plenty to think about. We heard from Alex Meade, Texas Transportation Commissioner with TX DOT ; Maruchy Cantu, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at DFW Airport ; and Allen Nye, Chief Executive Officer of Oncor . These topics connect directly to civil engineering: development plans depend on the infrastructure available to support them. Hearing how industry leaders are preparing for future demand offered useful context for the needs our clients may face.

The economic development discussions also included perspectives from Ross Perot Jr., Chairman of Hillwood and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Bret Perkins, Senior Vice President of Community Growth and Economic Development at Comcast .

The discussions about procurement were equally relevant. Major investments create opportunities for small businesses, but participating takes preparation and a clear understanding of how contracts are awarded.

Thank you to USHCC and the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for hosting, and to everyone who stopped by our booth. We were glad to share a little of Parra & Co with you.

Seven years with Parra & Co! Today we’re celebrating Eduardo Millan, and we’re so glad to have reached this milestone together!

Eduardo M. brings a careful eye to his work, with the organization and attention to detail that help turn design decisions into clear construction documents. His strengths in grading and drainage have supported projects ranging from residential developments to municipal transit facilities, always with a focus on making plans functional and easy to understand.

That work takes patience. There are details to check and revisions to work through, and we appreciate the care he puts into getting them right. After seven years, his contributions are part of so much of what we’ve accomplished as a firm.

Utility availability can change the shape of a development long before construction documents begin.

For large commercial and industrial sites, water capacity, wastewater availability, fire flow, extension distances, off-site improvements, and conflicts with existing infrastructure can all affect how a tract is laid out, phased, and ultimately developed.
