Alamo Regional Academy of Science and Engineering Fair

Alamo Regional Academy of Science and Engineering Fair For FIFTY years ARASE has been encouraging students to present their scientific research to the public at our annual Science and Engineering Fair.

Our mission is to advance public understanding and appreciation of science, especially among young people and to increase opportunities for disadvantage youths and underrepresented groups in science and engineering. Sister Joseph Marie Armer of Incarnate Word College, now the University of the Incarnate Word, in San Antonio, Texas founded the Alamo Regional Academy of Science and Engineering (ARAS

E) in 1956. Students utilize the scientific process in conducting an experiment and defending the results before members of the scientific community. Parents and Educators experience the satisfaction of mentoring students as they explore new challenges. Above all, the fair shows that science is as exciting as a young mind seeking discovery, and as important as solving the mysteries of our physical world. We cover thirty-two surrounding counties with over 700 students in grades six through twelve choosing from fourteen different categories in which to compete at our regional science fair. ARASE will qualify nine science projects to compete at the international level science fair known as the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). The Intel ISEF is considered the world series of science fairs. Our mission is to advance public understanding and appreciation of science, especially among young people. Our Goals

- An Appreciation of Science
Develop a life-long interest in science and engineering for middle and high school students.
- Public Involvement
Encourage students, educators, and the general public to take a pro-active interest in the application of the scientific method.
- Foster Good Science
Foster principles of good science, ethical research, humane treatment of animals, and compliance with standards and regulations.
- Provide Opportunities
Provide opportunities for the scientific professional community to interact and develop research skills with students.
- Public Recognition
Give public recognition and support to the students, their teachers, and schools.

We're excited to announce the Top 30 finalists in the 2025 Thermo Fisher Scientific Challenge, the nation’s STEM competition for middle school students. The finalists — selected by a nationwide panel of scientists, engineers and educators from the Top 300 Junior Innovators announced earlier this month — will participate in Thermo Fisher JIC Finals Week in Washington, D.C. in October. During Finals Week, an esteemed panel of judges will evaluate the finalists’ scientific research along with their communication, creativity and collaboration skills during team challenges.

Join us in congratulating these young scientists! https://bit.ly/3Kjht6c

JULY 29 - There will be a good International Space Station pass over Texas tonight. It'll look like a slow moving star moving in from the northwest between 9:08p-9:14p in the Coastal Bend.
