News from the UIL Robotics Texas Cup: after finishing the qualification matches in 19th place (out of 34), the Iron Fangs #5986 were selected for the 6th seed alliance in our division!

We built some of the most relevant field pieces, only to discover that the goal tower was too tall to stand upright in the Robot Hall. So we put together a simpler one to practice shooting. The painting has been moved to a safe place, and our team members enjoy shooting balls and trying to get them to land in the shelf above the goal.

The Iron Fangs will be competing at the UIL/FIRST State Championships in June! Here we see several of our young men laboring over the assembly of our practice field elements-an altogether non-glamorous but necessary job. Meanwhile, one of our Lady Fangs, Elena Castro is getting her driving practice in with our robot “MOM.”

As Our Lord said to St Martha about her sister Mary, ....” she has chosen the better portion, and it shall not be denied her.”

The Iron Fangs are going to compete at the UIL FIRST State Championships in June!

We have moved most of our operations to the second floor of the band hall.

Seen here is one of our Lady Fangs, Elena Castro from Providence Catholic School practicing her driving with our robot, “MOM.” Meanwhile, some of our young men (including Elena’s brother, Nick) labor at the more mundane task of assembling our practice field pieces. As Our Lord said to St. Martha of her sister Mary... “she has chosen the better portion, and it shall not be denied her.”

Meeting times for the 2020-21 school year are as follows:

Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, 3:45-5:00PM in Room 275 (the engineering/robotics suite).

Proud of the Fangs. Less than 24 hours since the main part of the chassis was done and they have the electronics in. With the control systems in it weighs in at 34.8 lbs (sans battery). Hoping to have the code loaded tonight. The programming team says it "should" work. Looking forward to it.

Off season H-Drive Chassis waiting for electronics. Weighs in at 26.2 lbs. 30 in x 30 in foot print. rails are made from 1" x 1" x .125" extrusion. Gearboxes water jet by one of the best sponsors a team can have Eureka Sheet Metal. Can't wait to see it run!
