This house gave me my first big break as an engineer almost 30 years ago. Two engineers have looked at the architectural drawings, topo and soil report and said this house can't be built.
I borrowed the plans from my boss, stayed up over night and by the following morning, presented my solution with hand calculations for the 35ft retaining wall and the San Francisco Yacht Club (Tiburon) below.
