After the Eaton Fire, this Altadena property is being reimagined through a smart, California Contemporary rebuild that reflects where homebuilding is headed. The plan features a 2br/2ba main home, a separate 2br/2ba ADU, and a standalone two-car garage — all designed with clean lines, open-concept living, and PHNX’s fully noncombustible, fire-resilient concrete and steel construction.

This is our final Rebuild of the Week, and a powerful example of what’s possible when design, safety, and forward-thinking construction come together. With permitting imminent, we’re excited to see these homes move from vision to reality and help shape a more resilient future for California housing.

This week’s rebuild is not just a home. It is a vision for how a neighborhood comes back.

After losing his longtime family home in the Palisades fire, Steven Crosby chose to rebuild differently. Instead of designing a private residence, he partnered with to create the Crosby House, a 4,186 sq ft, , net-zero ready demonstration home intentionally planned as a gathering space for the community.

The two-story design includes flexible indoor-outdoor spaces meant to host workshops, conversations, and community events, helping restore confidence and momentum in a neighborhood still recovering.

This is more than a rebuild.

It is a model for how communities can rise again — together.
