Gilliland Construction Management is proud to announce that it has been acquired by JLL (Jones Lang La Salle) and would like to thank our clients and project partners for their tremendous support over the last seven years. Without this support, we would have never been able to accomplish what we have in this short amount of time. The entire team has transitioning over to JLL and is grateful for your continued support. We are committed to continuing to work in partnership with our clients and project partners to do great things. Gilliland CM will continue to bring it’s more boutique service style to JLL, while gaining JLL’s massive support.

With the growing and evolving San Diego commercial real estate and construction industry, Gilliland CM was looking for ways to better service our clients and the region. Joining JLL
was one way for us to continue to grow within a culture that fits our team, to provide our team with the ability to continue to grow professionally, and for us to be able to provide the best possible services to our clients. The entire Gilliland CM team of
eight has joined the existing JLL San Diego PDS team, growing the practice to a team of fifteen professionals.

Jambs, lights, and laminates have been acquired. That’s right, we are starting to dry in the project and focus on getting finishes procured and to the site at El Monte Gateway 4. Windows are being installed along the pool deck podium and the perimeter of the building. Waterproofing and lath and plaster will soon follow. Top floor units have bathtubs installed and we are working our way down the building with closing the walls at the interior corridors making the building ready for finishes. This 208 unit multifamily and retail space project is on track for a Q1 2023 delivery to the market. Thank you to all our project partners for helping us get this one back on track and moving forward again.

Gilliland CM has completed the demo of an existing medical office building in Kearny Mesa. Now that demo is complete and the walls are laid out, rough overhead MEP will begin. The new improvements will be for a Cardiovascular Institute medical office with state of the art equipment. The medical office will include two Cath Labs, recovery rooms, reception area, nurse stations. The project involves coordination between numerous vendors, medical gases, vacuum pumps, new generator, upsize of electrical services, and new fire line to the building. This will be an exciting project, expected to be completed Q3 of 2022.

Gilliland Construction Management has been managing the construction of a multi-family housing project for our client located on El Cajon Blvd. in the City Heights neighborhood. The East Block Multi-Family Housing Project is slated for completion in August of 2022. The project consists of 117 low-income senior housing units and 78 two- and three- bedroom low-income family housing units. The 5-story structures will include the individual living units, multipurpose rooms, community rooms, a town square, patios, gardens, and play areas. The project has been designed by world-renowned Rob Wellington Quigley Architects. Emerson Construction is the general contractor. The project includes one level of subterranean parking. The exterior of the buildings is nearing completion. The flooring, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, light fixtures and finishes are being installed in the units on the first few floors. The GC is in the process of fitting out the interiors of the common areas throughout the buildings. We are excited to see the ongoing progress and looking forward to the grand opening in August 2022.

Gilliland Construction Management is the CM for the landlord on this exciting project in West Hollywood. The team is converting an old dry cleaners into a new restaurant for Great White. This whole building renovation includes a new front façade, 2nd level, new outdoor dining space, and a complete buildout of the 2,000 SF interior. Construction started in November and is scheduled to complete 2nd quarter of this year. Currently the old space has been demolished, new footings have been dug along with the new underground utilities. Structural steel is due onsite soon to start building the new structure. Stay tuned for more updates as we build out this exciting project.

Gilliland CM has recently kicked off an electronics lab project for a Fortune 500 client in Mira Mesa. This project includes the transformation of existing office space on two separate floors into new electronics lab spaces totaling approx. 20,000SF. Demolition kicked off right before the Christmas holiday and is scheduled to be complete in January. The two electronics labs will serve our client’s engineering teams with high tech projects. The project also includes the construction of a separate air compressor yard outside the building, including two large 150HP air compressors and associated electrical/mechanical equipment. Meeting the challenges of the supply chain affecting the project schedule; GCM’s project management team has substituted manufacturers for HVAC equipment, solicited alternative specifications for the compressed air storage tanks as well as phasing construction to allow for the earliest possible occupancy for our client. The project is slated for completion in the 2nd Quarter of 2022. We look forward to the next phases of construction as this project transforms existing office space into functioning high tech laboratory space.

Happy New Year!! We are starting 2022 with a clean slate! Interior demo of a 10,000 square foot office TI was completed at the end of December which allows for the new construction to begin. The project is a renovation of an existing office space located in the Torrey Pines area. The scope includes: demo of interior office space, new walls, carpet, paint, cabinetry, appliances, doors/frames/hardware, interior finishes, new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire sprinkler systems, FF&E, and IT infrastructure. The space will be an open floor concept with excellent views of the Torrey Pines Golf Course and Ocean! More photos to come as we complete this beautiful space.

Gilliland CM has reached a major milestone for our client on the construction of a 250,000 SF cold storage facility in Otay Mesa. This concrete tilt up building will be the future home of a cold storage facility serving the Otay Mesa region with cross border connections to Mexico. The grading at the site required the import of approximately 80,000 cubic yards of dirt from other sites throughout San Diego County. The grading for the Building Pad was completed in September. The process of erecting the concrete tilt wall panels was 100% completed, just in time for Thanksgiving. This is a very exciting project for us and our client. We are anticipating the completion of the building shell in April 2022.

We are excited to see demolition of this existing building begin, which will allow for the spectacular new ground up Life Science building for Turning Point Therapeutics. Once demo and construction of the new building is completed, Turning Point will be moving into a brand new 185,000sf building. We are currently working on construction drawings for the interior improvements which will feature new lab space, a vivarium, large all hands meeting rooms, a social hub, outdoor amenities, and many more unique features! Completion of the project is slated for 2023!

What is your favorite family vacation?

My yearly trip to Big Bear during the Thanksgiving week with my children and my dogs. Every year for the past 4 years I have made it our little tradition to drive up to Big Bear where we cook
Thanksgiving dinner, go snow tubing, skiing & snowboarding (or try), visit The Village, take a helicopter ride and the kids favorite: visit the Magic Mountain. This year we are hoping the Pirate Ship will be open for a ride around the lake.

What is your favorite quote? "Success is often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable." Coco Chanel

What led you to this career?

My mother was in real estate, she would buy houses and flip them. I loved to see how the project started and how it ended. The contractors always had something different to put together. They
never seemed bored, only excited to achieve the goal. I wanted that, and here I am assisting with the process.

Who/What inspires you?

People who can make their passion their profession; those who achieve their goal and stay humble.
