Just the other week, leaders across composting, packaging, research, and policy came together in Detroit for the 2026 BPI Summit to explore how certified compostable products can support effective waste diversion.

At Spurt Industries in Wixom, Michigan, we saw composting in action and how the right products, collection systems, and composting infrastructure work together to make an impact. From diverting food and packaging waste from landfills to producing nutrient-rich compost that helps soil retain water, composting can support more resilient food systems, local economies, communities, and so much more.
