Intrapatient organoid models can provide a more accurate recapitulation of corresponding parental tumors, supporting more translationally relevant in vitro research.

This month, we’re highlighting PA20006B, a primary-site pancreatic organoid model derived from a patient sample.

Use models like PA20006B to help recapitulate key characteristics of parental tumors and support more informed evaluation of tumor biology and therapeutic response.

How do we enable deeper insights into CAR-T efficacy within complex tumor microenvironments? Our AACR 2026 Poster demonstrates how organoid fibroblast co-culture systems, combined with high-content imaging (HCI), improve the assessment of tumor killing, immune infiltration and resistance mechanisms.

We’re pleased to share a new publication in Frontiers in Immunology:

“Translational 3D in vitro models for immunotherapy testing: from reconstituted organoid co-culture assays to autologous ex vivo patient tissues”

This study highlights how advanced organoid-based 3D in vitro platforms can improve the translational relevance of immunotherapy testing by more accurately modeling the tumor microenvironment.

The paper presents data from several T cell engagers and demonstrates how these platforms enable clinically relevant tumor microenvironment modeling, high-content multiparametric imaging, and assessment of immune cell infiltration, activation, and tumor killing across multiple immuno-oncology modalities, including ICIs, BiTEs, and CAR-T cell therapies.

These translational models can help generate more informative preclinical data and better support immuno-oncology drug development.

Did you know skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the US? ¹ This Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we’re highlighting research advancements in melanoma cancer treatment.

Much progress has been made in treating people with melanoma and researchers are continuing to explore ways to make these treatments more effective for more patients, including through:

➡️ Targeted therapies using drug combinations

➡️ Immunotherapy, like immune checkpoint inhibition

➡️ Adoptive cell therapy, like tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy

Learn more about advances in melanoma and other skin cancers research: https://www.cancer.gov/types/skin

Make sure to follow us as we continue to share some our latest melanoma research and more.

Oncology researchers frequently struggle with the poor predictability of traditional xenografts. Why? Because these models don’t accurately reflect human tumor biology and clinical response.

Our patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mouse models mimic human tumor biology accurately – enhancing clinical translation and improving the precision of personalized treatment strategies.

Crown Bioscience’s Model of the Month, CR9831, is a colorectal cancer PDX derived from a heavily pretreated patient, featuring prior exposure to an anti-c-MET ADC (ABBV-400).

With confirmed pathology (moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, P2) and full multi-omics coverage (RNA-seq, exome-seq, WGS), CR9831 is built to power:
✔ ADC development
✔ Resistance mechanism studies
✔ Translational oncology research

ADC pretreated PDX models are rare and critical for advancing next generation targeted therapies.
