Home Remodel Series | Parts 1-4: Complete Transformation
Swipe to see the full journey of the Van D**e Residence — from pre-construction planning through demolition, construction, and final completion.
What began as a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom remodel quickly evolved into a full structural overhaul. During early assessments, MDEP identified a major issue with the roof framing — requiring a complete redesign using pre-manufactured trusses.
Part 1: Pre-Construction – Structural engineering, architectural updates, and permitting laid the foundation. Real-time coordination with the contractor and homeowner kept the original design intent intact while addressing unexpected challenges.
Part 2: Demolition – Strategic demo prepared the space for necessary upgrades, including reinforcement of historic framing, adjustments to interior wall placements, and full roof framing replacement.
Part 3: Construction – Engineered trusses, precision framing, and coordinated trades brought the vision to life. MDEP remained hands-on throughout, ensuring code compliance and accurate implementation at every stage.
Part 4: Complete – A fully remodeled, structurally sound home that honors its historic character while meeting modern standards.
At MDEP, every phase is rooted in preserving integrity while building it right.
