Breaking New Ground in Drug Discovery and Parkinson’s Treatment
We are thrilled to announce that Sinopia Biosciences has been awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant totaling $2.2 million from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). This funding will advance our oral mucositis program, focusing on lead discovery and optimization. Oral mucositis, a debilitating side effect of cancer therapies, affects up to 90% of patients with head and neck cancer. Our proprietary LEarn And DiScover (LEADS®) platform leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify novel therapeutic targets and candidates, aiming to alleviate this condition and improve patient outcomes.
In addition, we are excited to share that our lead clinical candidate, SB-0110, has been selected for advancing into Phase 1 clinical trials for Parkinson’s disease and levodopa-induced dyskinesia. This milestone has been achieved with the support of a $3.3 million Fast-Track SBIR grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and $2.0 million in funding from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). SB-0110, identified through our LEADS™ platform, has demonstrated promising results in preclinical studies, offering hope for improved treatments for Parkinson’s patients.
