The Trump administration just agreed to pay TotalEnergies nearly $1 billion to abandon two offshore wind projects off the coasts of New York and North Carolina.

Those two projects would have generated enough clean electricity to power 1.3 million homes.

At the same time, the average American household paid 6.4% more for electricity in 2025 than the year before.

What does Tier 1 actually mean? It's a designation used by independent analysts (like BloombergNEF) to identify solar manufacturers with proven financial stability, consistent production quality, and bankability — meaning banks and major investors trust them for long-term projects.

In plain terms: Tier 1 panels are built to last. They're warrantied by manufacturers who will still be around in 15–25 years.
