Caution When Visiting a Construction Job Site ;

Regardless if your a Client or a subcontractor, awareness and Planning during your visit is key to staying safe. Other good practices are listed below , be on time for your appointment and SAFETY if the #1 rule;

Hard Hat — Head injuries are no joke, so it’s important to wear a hard hat even if construction is not in progress above you.

Safety Glasses — While these may seem unnecessary when you’re not the one performing the work, there may be debris in the air that could get in your eyes and potentially cause permanent damage.

Hearing Protection — Jobsites are louder than you might think, so bringing along a set of earplugs is strongly advised.

Proper Attire — Shorts, skirts, dresses, and flowy blouses should not be worn on the jobsite. Long pants and long-sleeve tops can help mitigate the risk of injury from sharp or hot materials.

Closed-toe Shoes — While you probably won’t need steel-toe boots for your tour, regular boots or other closed-toe shoes (especially with a thick sole) can prevent a stray nail from puncturing your skin. Heels should never be worn on-site, even if they are closed-toe.

Safety Vest — A safety vest helps identify who is authorized to be on the jobsite. It can also help workers see you when operating heavy equipment.

NOTE: Many contractors on site are on tight schedules, please keep your questions to your designated appointment out of courtesy .

Why Does California Want to BAN indoor Gas Stoves ??

" Thirty-eight percent of households in the United States use a gas stove, and the number approaches 70% in some states like California and New Jersey. Other studies have found these stoves emit significant levels of nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and fine particulate matter – which without proper ventilation can raise the levels of indoor concentration levels to unsafe levels as deemed by the EPA. "
“Agency staff plans to start gathering data and perspectives from the public on potential hazards associated with gas stoves, and proposed solutions to those hazards later this year,” the commission said in a statement. “Commission staff also continues to work with voluntary standards organizations to examine gas stove emissions and address potential hazards.”

Personally , I love cooking with Gas stoves ! hopefully they can
find away to guarantee great venting solutions !

Plan , plan , plan . Once your contractor is on location and working , it is wise to make sure all your duties as a client
will not stop the flow of work. Make sure all supplies you chose, like Tile , Plumbing supplies , Paint colors etc... are all picked and ordered.
Here is an approx. list to get you started:
1. Flooring-type, color, style, grade, brand
2. Appliances-brand, color, style, size
3. Light fixtures/Ceiling fans
4. Cabinets-material, style, color, configuration/layout
5. Countertops, sink, & faucet-material, color, finish effects, configuration/layout
6. Trim
7. Paint
8. Tub-material, color, style, brand
9. Bathroom vanity, sinks, faucets & toilet-material, color, style, brand

Outlet/light switch placement
Ceiling finishes
Interior & exterior doors
Interior & entry door k***s
Cabinet pulls

Here, at Rivera Construction we would like to assist you in making your dream project a reality by giving you some guidance into the beginning phase .

Once you have decided to proceed with your project , finding an Architect will be one of the first things to do , getting drawings and plans will assist your Builder ( Rivera Construction hopefully ) giving you costs and a timeline.

Here are a few shortcuts in finding an Architect:

Ask a relative , neighbor , co-worker if they know of a good Architect they worked with in the past.
nothing beats first hand encounters with people you know and trust, also you can see some of their works complete.

Walk around your neighborhood and see if any homes you like are being built, most neighbors would appreciate your complimenting their projects and would have no problems sharing their knowledge and present working experiences with you.

Ask your trusted builder if they have any recommendations . Most established Builders have worked with many Architects over the years and usually have a hand full of favorites.

Having drawings and plans really will help your Builder fast forward your project and get you the information
you will need for final decision making
