Fission = splits a large atom into smaller ones → releasing massive amounts of energy.
Fusion = joins lighter atoms into a larger one → the same process that powers the sun.

While fusion is exciting, it’s still decades away from commercial use.
Fission is here today and it’s what powers Hadron Energy’s microreactors: safe, scalable, and carbon-free.

I had the opportunity to attend the 50th World Nuclear Symposium in London last week!

It was remarkable to reflect on the progress over the past year. Last year, I attended alone — this time I was joined by six colleagues from Hadron Energy.

The Symposium brought together global nuclear leaders to explore policy, innovation, financing, energy partnerships, and strategies to triple capacity by 2050.

Microreactors took center stage at this year’s conference, and at Hadron Energy, we were proud to be one of the only exhibitors showcasing them.

A common misconception: “Nuclear is unsafe.”

The reality? Nuclear is actually the safest form of energy on the planet when you look at the full picture.

Coal plants expose workers to dangerous conditions and pump pollutants into the air. Oil and gas carry major risks too. Nuclear, by contrast, runs 24/7 with zero carbon emissions and one of the best safety records in energy history.

Hi, if you’re new here — I’m Sam Gibson, founder & CEO of Hadron Energy. ⚡

I grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, studied mechanical & nuclear engineering at the University of Nebraska, and wrote my senior thesis on microreactors.

Now I’m building microreactors: small, scalable power plants that can run 24/7 without carbon emissions.
