Pizza isn’t guesswork. It’s data.

The Pizza Power Report 2025 from PMQ Pizza is a good reminder that pizza is one of the most data-transparent categories in foodservice.

According to the report, the most widely used pizza ingredients in US restaurants are:

Onion (75.6%)
Pepperoni (73.3%)
Mozzarella (73.1%)

In practical terms, that means pepperoni and mozzarella appear on the majority of pizzas produced every day. This is an important lens through which to evaluate automation like xPizza Cube.

xPizza Cube is designed to portion and apply cheese and pepperoni - two of the three most common toppings in pizza operations. It also handles your pizza sauce which is obviously needed for every pie - simply not considered a «topping».

From an operational standpoint, this matters more than handling specialty toppings. High-frequency ingredients are where:

🍕 labor inconsistency shows up most clearly

Mozzarella and pepperoni are applied hundreds of times per shift in many stores. Even small inconsistencies in portioning or placement scale into meaningful cost and quality deviations over time. By automating these high-volume ingredients:

💥 portion control becomes consistent by default
💥 visual uniformity improves without additional training
💥 operators gain predictability in throughput and cost modeling

The remaining toppings - vegetables, proteins, premium or seasonal items - can still be handled manually without undermining the system’s overall efficiency.
