I was put on a lathe at the beginning of my machining career about 15 years ago. Learned enough to do setups and simple pencil sharpening programs. A few months later I went onto cnc mills and haven't worked with a cnc lathe since (just manuals). I think I would've been a pretty good lathe guy lol 😅

Made a little program to sharpen my pencil at work when the boss was gone.

Sad to say after about 12 years of use, my Starrett digital caliper finally gave up. I was always proud to use it because its one of the last digital calipers that were made in USA. Hopefully I'll get fixed one day.
To replace it, I purchased a new Brown and Sharpe caliper. I'm really happy with it so far. Was going to get a Mitutoyo but the B&S was over $50 cheaper.

Did a small aluminum part with some tiny features. Little cross is . 020" width slots. There's also a .020" step feature. And the smallest stap I've used so far which is M.8 x .2 tapped in two locations. Drill size for this tap is .026"
