This month, we’re highlighting Marco, one of our talented carpenters who has been part of team De Mattei for 21 years!

Marco specializes in finish work and loves “putting all the pieces together” and watching a project come to life. His attention to detail, craftsmanship, and willingness to jump in wherever needed makes him an incredible asset to our team. From custom finish details to helping across multiple job sites, Marco’s experience and dedication shines through in everything he does.

Before joining De Mattei, Marco worked in landscaping before discovering his passion for carpentry, and we’re definitely glad he did.
After more than two decades with the company, his expertise and hard work continue to make a lasting impact on our projects and team culture.

When he’s not on site, Marco enjoys playing soccer, cheering on Pumas from Mexico City, and spending time with his family.

We’re so lucky to have Marco on the team. Thank you for 21 amazing years of dedication, craftsmanship, and teamwork! 👏

At De Mattei Construction, our projects are brought to life by talented individuals who take pride in their craft, and Nate Hines, one of our skilled carpenters, is a perfect example of that.

Originally from Santa Cruz, Nate brings nearly four years of experience at DMC, backed by a strong foundation as a second-generation carpenter. Having grown up working in his family’s construction business, he developed a deep appreciation for the trade early on; turning it into a career built on skill, precision, and dedication.

What Nate loves most about his role is the fast-paced nature of construction, especially framing. From foundation to finish, he enjoys constantly building, staying active, and being able to step back at the end of the day to see real progress.

Throughout his time at DMC, Nate has worked on a variety of memorable projects, including complex framing jobs that required attention to details and problem-solving; something he genuinely enjoys.

His favorite tool? The skill saw; a reflection of his expertise and craftsmanship. As he puts it, it’s not something just anyone can pick up and use, it takes real skill to master.

Based in the Santa Cruz Mountains and working across the Bay Area, Nate brings consistency, efficiency, and a strong work ethic to every job site. We’re proud to have him on the team.🪚📐🪜

In honor of celebrating women in construction this month, we’re excited to spotlight one of the talented women helping bring De Mattei Construction projects to life behind the scenes.

At De Mattei Construction, every successful project begins long before construction starts. Behind the scenes, our estimating and project management team works carefully to plan, price, and coordinate every detail so our clients have a clear understanding of their project from day one.

Meet Krista, our Assistant Project Manager & Estimator, who has been part of the De Mattei Construction team for nearly 8 years, joining us in 2018.

Originally from the Toronto area in Canada, Krista moved to California about 10 years ago and now lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains. She began her journey at De Mattei as an Estimating Coordinator, later becoming an Estimator and Project Coordinator, and today plays a key role in both estimating and project administration.

Krista helps lay the groundwork for our projects by developing detailed estimates, coordinating with subcontractors, scheduling inspections, and working closely with our project managers and field teams to keep projects running smoothly.

At De Mattei Construction, estimating is about more than numbers. Our team works diligently to review plans in detail and collect multiple subcontractor bids, ensuring we provide our clients with accurate pricing, transparency, and the best value possible before construction even begins.

We are grateful for Krista’s attention to detail, collaboration with our field teams, and the expertise she brings to every project.
