Here at Sanford Contractors one of our unique groups is our Support Services Team. They include:

Equipment Maintenance

These team members service and repair our varied equipment assets including earthmoving equipment, cranes, small support equipment and highway trucks. Fabrication Shop

These team members fabricate forms, build temporary detour bridge spans, and pour precast concrete items for private projects. Transportation

These team members transport materials built or stored on our Company grounds. They transport equipment to our projects. They are responsible for coordinating Company dump trucks and for hire trucks to deliver quarried material to our projects. Company Yard Support

These team members receive materials and store at the Company yard to be shipped to projects. They receive, organize and prepare these materials for shipment. They also load all fabrication shop-built items for shipment. Administrative Staff

These team members are responsible for payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, safety oversight, governmental compliance and finance.

Construction continues on the new visitor center at the House in the Horseshoe State Historic Site.

As work progresses, this Sanford Contractors Commercial Building Division project continues to take shape.

Once complete, the new visitor center will provide an enhanced visitor experience while supporting the site's long-term preservation.

We are honored to share that the Sanford Contractors Construction Academy has been recognized with a 2026 Carolinas AGC Community Impact Award.

Presented annually by Carolinas AGC, the Community Impact Award recognizes companies making meaningful contributions to their communities through service, leadership, and investment.

Since its launch in 2023, the Construction Academy has connected local students with college credit, paid hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to careers in the construction industry.

This recognition reflects the efforts of the students, educators, mentors, workforce development partners, and Sanford Contractors team members who have made this program possible.

Thank you to everyone who has played a role in the Construction Academy's success. We are proud of what the program has accomplished so far and excited to see its impact continue to grow.

Before reporting to their assigned jobsites, students in the 2026 Sanford Contractors Construction Academy toured active projects across multiple divisions and met the SCI team members who will help guide them throughout the summer.

These tours gave students a firsthand look at a variety of construction projects while introducing them to the mentors, crews, and career paths that make up Sanford Contractors.

Today, students begin their first day on the jobsite as part of the nine-week program. We wish them a safe, successful, and rewarding summer as they continue learning and gaining experience in the field.

This month’s Team Member Spotlight features Felipe Vitela from our Utility Division.

As a Superintendent, Felipe is responsible for ensuring his crew completes projects safely, on time, and to the Sanford Contractors standard for quality. A two-time Brent Sloan Safety Award finalist, he has earned a companywide reputation for his commitment to safety and leadership in the field.

Since joining Sanford Contractors in 2017, Felipe has helped lead the successful completion of numerous projects, including the 2018 PWC Market House Design-Build Water Main Replacement in downtown Fayetteville, one of his favorites.

When asked what he values most about working at Sanford Contractors, Felipe pointed to the trust company leadership places in its team members. “One thing I really appreciate about Sanford Contractors is that they trust their employees to get the job done,” he shared.

For Felipe, that trust comes with a responsibility to lead by example and help his crew succeed.

In addition to leading projects, Felipe also serves as a mentor in our summer student programs and will welcome one of our Construction Academy students to his crew this year.

Outside of work, Felipe enjoys spending time with his family and volunteering with his church.

We are grateful for Felipe’s leadership, commitment to safety, and investment in the success of those around him.

The first day of the 2026 Sanford Contractors Construction Academy is in the books.

Yesterday, students completed orientation, toured Sanford Contractors' facilities, began OSHA 10 training, and participated in hands-on learning activities as they kicked off the nine-week program.

We're excited to have this year's class on board and look forward to seeing what they accomplish this summer.

Recently, Sanford Contractors had the opportunity to speak to The Chatham Chamber's Leadership Chatham Cohort at Raleigh Exec. Topics throughout the day's session included economic and workforce development.

We were grateful for the opportunity to share more about Sanford Contractors over lunch, along with updates on our ongoing aviation work at Raleigh Exec, including three active hangar projects currently under construction.

Sanford Contractors will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day as we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Last week, Sanford Contractors also kicked off our 2026 college internship program with a meet-and-greet breakfast for our summer interns and members of our leadership team.

The breakfast gave interns a chance to ask questions, learn more about the company, and spend time getting to know Sanford Contractors’ leadership team.

As of this week, all seven of our interns are officially on the job and working across Sanford Contractors’ divisions, where they’ll gain hands-on experience in areas like project management, field operations, and safety while getting a firsthand look at how construction projects come together from start to finish.

We’re excited to have them on board and look forward to supporting them throughout the summer.

On Wednesday, Sanford Contractors welcomed the 2026 Construction Academy class during our annual signing ceremony.

This was our largest applicant pool yet, with more than 90 students applying for just 14 spots in this summer’s program.
