San Diego was so good to us! ☀️🌊
We spent last week at the SPIE meeting, meeting so many passionate people in optics, lasers, and semiconductors. There’s really nothing better than putting faces to names, showing off our crystal substrate samples in person, and geeking out over what everyone is building.
A huge thank you to everyone who dropped by the SAM booth to say hi!
East Coast friends, you're up next! 📍
We’re heading to The Advanced Materials Show in Pittsburgh (Oct 6–7, 2026), and we'll see you at booth 911!!

Operating deep-UV lasers or high-power optical systems requires material platforms beyond standard silicon. When power densities rise or transmission windows expand, substrate physical limits define system reliability.

Matching the optical substrate directly to system operating conditions prevents thermal lensing and optical distortion:

• CaF2 & MgF2 : Deliver broad transmission from deep-UV to mid-IR with low absorption coefficient.
• Single Crystal Quartz (SiO2 Z-cut) & Sapphire: Offer high optical damage thresholds and resistance to thermal shock under high-power illumination.
• Silicon : Provides a proven platform for infrared windowing and hybrid optical integration.

Stanford Advanced Materials (SAM) supplies optical-grade single crystals cut and polished to precise dimensional and orientation specs for laser systems and optoelectronics R&D.

Tailored single-crystal substrate processing engineered for exact lattice and deposition specs—from 10x10x0.5 mm formats to complex geometries:

• Surface Finish: Single/double-side CMP polishing (Ra < 0.5 nm)
• Orientation: Precision lattice cuts (SrTiO3, LSAT, LaAlO3, YSZ, MgO, Sapphire) with controlled miscut angles
• Integrity: Damage-free edges for thermal and chucking stability during deposition

Greetings from sunny San Diego! 🌴
The SAM team had a blast meeting everyone at SPIE Optics + Photonics.
We’ve brought a selection of SAM crystals, substrates, and advanced materials for visitors to see up close. We also had some great discussions around material sourcing—from optical crystals and single-crystal substrates to sputtering targets.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by Booth 512 in San Diego.
Couldn’t make it to SPIE this time? Feel free to reach out or leave a comment and tell us what you’re working on.

In ophthalmic applications, material performance matters.

Hyaluronic acid combines biocompatibility, lubrication, and viscoelastic behavior. By adjusting characteristics such as molecular weight, concentration, and viscosity profile, HA can be better matched to specific application requirements.

Thoughtful material selection helps support more reliable ophthalmic solutions.

Choosing hyaluronic acid for ophthalmic applications takes more than checking purity.

Molecular weight affects rheology; endotoxin level matters for medical quality; concentration influences formulation behavior; and biocompatibility supports application suitability.

The right HA grade comes from matching material specifications to the intended use.
