944/951 racing front control arms. I've been making these since 2003. They are completely made in-house. They are made from 4130 tubing and solid bar . They are stress relief and heat treated. The pins are made from 17'4 and heat treated to h900. The castor blocks are made from 4130 rectangular bar. The spacer on the castor blocks are made from 303.
I originally ordered a set of replacement bearings for the 'Charlie arms' back in 2001. From there, I made a control arm from 4130 thar I knew could be stronger and lighter that solid billet aluminum. These arms use the same spherical bearings as the Charlie arms did, so the pins are also interchangeable.
These arms will outperform any billet arms in terms of weight, strength, resistance to heat from the brake rotor, and clearance to the rotor. Steel also has superior fatigue resistance. I have made many changes to them over the years based on damaged arms from race cars that had crashed. The objective was always for the arms to bend and fold in an extreme impact without completely breaking. The wall thicknesses and gussets have been adjusted to produce the outcome.
