NVIDIA has announced the Jetson Orin Nano 2, a new entry-level robotics computer aimed at bringing frontier-class edge AI performance to a wider base of developers.

The module delivers 78 trillion operations per second of AI compute, 8GB of memory, and 2x the inference performance of its predecessor while using 40% less power at the same performance level. It's built to run large language models and vision language models directly at the edge, supporting applications like home robots, inspection drones, and vision AI systems. Early adopters include Cognex, Doosan Bobcat, and Matic Robots, with the module and developer kit expected in the first half of 2027.

MIT engineers have developed a robotic physical therapy system that uses generative AI to learn from human therapists and adaptively assist stroke patients.

The dual-arm robot combines transformer-based diffusion models with real-time force feedback, allowing it to adjust the level of physical assistance based on a patient's effort and capabilities. Unlike most generative AI models in robotics that focus on motion planning, this system learns physical interaction itself, including how to respond to touch, force, and resistance. Researchers say the same approach could eventually extend beyond therapy into industrial and collaborative robotics settings.

Advances in AI, satellite navigation, and machine vision are making robotic lawn mowers more capable of handling larger, more complex yards.

Newer systems use RTK positioning and 4G connectivity to map lawns, avoid obstacles, and plan mowing routes without traditional boundary wires. Beyond residential use, the technology is also being explored in commercial landscaping, where labor shortages have created demand for more automated solutions.

Ollobot's OlloNi SS1 combines multimodal AI, computer vision, autonomous mobility, and on-device processing to create a companion robot designed for long-term interaction in the home.

Rather than simply responding to commands, the robot can learn household routines, recognize family members, respond to behavioral and emotional cues, and proactively interact with people. The technology highlights how advances in embodied AI are creating new possibilities for human-robot interaction.

MIT engineers have developed a more intuitive controller for operating construction excavators by replacing traditional joysticks with a miniature excavator arm that mirrors the machine's movements.

The system is designed to shorten the learning curve for operators by making controls feel more natural, with potential applications in on-site operation, remote operation, and heavy equipment training.

Motor control design turns a spinning motor into a system you can actually rely on. At OLogic, our motor control expertise supports products across a wide range of applications, from small home appliances to children's toys, large mobile robots, and warehouse robots, in both high-volume, low-cost systems and high-power, low-volume systems.

Our team has experience with:
⚙️ Brushed-DC and Brushless-DC (BLDC) motor controllers
⚙️ Microcontroller-based designs with 3-phase bridge drivers
⚙️ BLDC controller chips for faster production timelines
⚙️ Sensorless field-oriented control (FOC)
⚙️ STM32, Texas Instruments, and PMD Motion platforms
⚙️ Custom controllers built for cost, space, and thermal constraints

Whether the goal is escaping the limits of an off-the-shelf controller or building sensorless FOC from the ground up, the right approach depends on the project's timeline and requirements.

From concept to control, good motor control design makes sure a product does not just move. It moves the way it is supposed to.

Stripe has reportedly agreed to buy OpenRouter for more than 7 billion dollars, according to Bloomberg. That is five times OpenRouter's 1.3 billion dollar valuation from its Series B in May, though below the 10 billion dollar figure the Wall Street Journal floated in July. Neither company has confirmed the deal.

OpenRouter serves 8 million users across more than 400 AI models, and Stripe was already its payments processor. The move follows Stripe's purchase of usage based billing platform Metronome in January, positioning Stripe to track how AI spending is measured and priced as usage based pricing models continue to take shape.
