Your Warehouse Stock Count Is Only As Good As Its Weakest Link
Most warehouses don't have a counting problem. They have a trust problem. The number in the ERP was written down by one person, never checked by anyone else, and treated as fact until something forces a closer look - a shrinkage report, a customer dispute, an audit that doesn't add up.
That weak link tends to show up in four places.
👉 1. Nobody verifies the count before it's final:
One person counts. The same person enters it. No second check.
Errors don't surface until they've already cost you, as shrinkage on the books or as a dispute with a customer who received the wrong shipment.
There's no timestamped visual record to point to when someone asks, "Are you sure?"
👉 2. Some inventory can't be counted accurately by eye:
Steel bars, metal coils, tightly packed SKUs — units that look identical from every angle, with no visual seam to count from.
Stacks too dense or too tall to see individual units, let alone count them.
Getting a number often means someone walking into a yard or hazard zone they shouldn't have to.
👉 3. Manual process hasn't kept pace with how big the warehouse got:
Full audits take one to two days, and operations pause while they happen.
Auditor travel across multiple sites adds real, direct cost on top of the lost throughput.
The cost of that downtime rarely shows up as a line item — it just disappears as capacity you never got back.
👉 4. Coverage and consistency gaps:
Zones without CCTV rely entirely on one person's manual entry, with nothing to check it against.
New hires, turnover, and fatigue mean the "manual" number isn't even consistent from one shift to the next.
Meanwhile, trucks sit at the dock while someone manually confirms a count — and the detention clock doesn't wait.
At ThirdEye Data, we have built Vision Count AI that covers all four problems.
One AI system. Four problems. Leveraging existing CCTVs or mobile phone cameras. Optimizing warehouse ops that finally trust its own numbers.
