I know I’m not saying anything different than the many posts already written about the devastating fire on Main Street, but as a local business owner, I feel compelled to say how truly sorry I am for all of the businesses, owners, employees, and families affected.
These weren’t just businesses to me. They were places I shopped, places I ate, and places where I would hopefully run into a familiar face or two. They were part of our community and part of what makes Main Street feel like home.
And to the owners and employees — I know these businesses were so much more than buildings. They were your babies. Your dreams. Your second homes. Places where you poured in years of hard work, time, love, and sacrifice. Most importantly, they were your livelihoods.
My heart truly breaks for all of you. I can only imagine the loss and uncertainty you’re feeling right now.
As a fellow local business owner, I know how much our businesses mean to us, and I also know how much they mean to the communities we serve.
I’m so incredibly sorry this happened. Please know that our community is hurting with you, and I hope in the days ahead you feel just how many people are standing beside you and ready to support you as you begin to rebuild.
