UCSC’s Film and Digital Media Department has launched a new Social Documentation Laboratory at the Westside Research Park.

Featuring open areas for collaboration; a studio/gallery for immersive media and installations; a seminar room; an audio mixing room; audio recording studio; editing and work stations; and an enclosed quiet editing and color grading room, the new lab expands the university’s capacity to support graduate students working at the intersection of media production, social justice, and critical scholarship.

A turn-key Design/Build delivery by Bogard Construction, the new Social Documentation Lab provides a creative home for graduate students in the Department of Film and Digital Media’s SocDoc MFA and PhD programs.

The County of Santa Cruz held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Juvenile Hall Renovation and Expansion project.

The Multi-Use Recreation and Program Facility (Gym) will provide an all-weather exercise and training facility for juvenile hall youth, while the renovation and upgrades project will provide improvements to a facility approaching 60 years old.

The goal of the renovation and upgrades project is to allow a higher degree of accessibility, structural improvements, safety, and security for the minors, staff, and public. The project also allowed greater access to improved programming, such as culinary arts, master gardening, healthy food production, family reunification, and business management, leadership, personal development, self-motivation, and job readiness skills.

As the original builder in 1968, Bogard’s team is proud to be involved as Construction Manager in the current renovation project.
(The County even managed to dig up the original Dedication Program!)

Bogard is thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of Natural Bridges Apartments — a new affordable housing community on Santa Cruz’s Westside!

This modern complex offers 20 studio apartments, along with shared community spaces and on-site parking, designed with sustainability and accessibility in mind.

It was an honor to partner with and on a project that brings much-needed housing to our community.

Exciting progress! The Santa Cruz City Schools Educator Housing project has reached a major milestone with Planning approval from the City of Santa Cruz.

Bogard’s Design/Build team is thrilled to keep the momentum going as we move forward in the design process with our partners at EHDD Architects and Studio Vara. This 4-story, 100-unit development on the westside of Santa Cruz will provide much-needed housing for Educators in our community.

We are excited to share that the Live Oak Health and Housing campus, which includes MidPen’s Bienestar Plaza, Santa Cruz Community Health, and Dientes Community Dental, has received the 2024 “Milestone Project” award for Structures from the Silicon Valley Business Journal!

This award recognizes projects that will have a lasting and pronounced impact on the Silicon Valley for years to come, which is exactly what this six-building campus accomplished with its 20,126 SF medical clinic and 5,790 SF dental clinic, as well as four buildings dedicated to 57 affordable housing units.

This is a testament to the impact that this project has had, and will have, on the Community, as well as the hard work of the project team members.

Bogard Construction has started construction on the Harvey West Studios project. A 120-unit, 5-story affordable housing project with essential services onsite which will ensure people experiencing chronic homelessness have the support they need to have a stable and comfortable place to call home. This is the essence of permanent supportive housing and the solution to ending homelessness for some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Aimed at serving many of the highest users of the health-care system, this supportive housing facility will include both recuperative care and behavioral health clinics on the ground floor, as well as community space for case-management and peer support services.

The building will be a healing environment, where residents feel at home within a shared community, that supports those who are currently experiencing chronic homelessness in Santa Cruz County on the path to health and long-term housing stability.

Bogard’s team is honored to be part of this amazing project which with provide much needed support for our community.
