Congratulations to the City of Santa Cruz for two new awards from ASCE San Jose Branch (American Society of Civil Engineers). Santa Cruz Rail Trail won an Outstanding Bikeways and Trails award. West Cliff Drive Emergency Repairs won an Outstanding Construction Project award. MME provided engineering design on both amazing projects. We are thrilled that our work improves the infrastructure for our community to use and enjoy.

MME is the prime consultant for the San Lorenzo Valley Water District’s DWR Tank Replacement project, which will replace 5 aging tanks with new infrastructure. The construction of the Highland tank is nearly complete! The 60,000-gallon redwood tank will be replaced by a 125,000-gallon steel tank. The new tank will significantly improve fire protection, increase drought resilience, and enhance the District’s overall operational reliability. Estimated completion date is late summer 2026.

The West Cliff Drive Emergency Repairs project is a 2026 APWA National Award Winner! As the Primary Consultant, MME worked closely with the City of Santa Cruz and Granite Construction to design repairs to sections of the pathway and roadway that were damaged by severe 2022 and 2023 winter storms. We are thrilled to have our work recognized a national level! The attached article is from the July 2026 edition of the APWA Reporter.

MME is providing design and engineering services during construction of the San Lorenzo Valley Water District's DWR Tank Replacement Project.

The District is currently in construction on three redwood water tank replacements in the Ben Lomond, Boulder Creek, and San Lorenzo Park neighborhoods.

These new steel tanks will each store up to 120,000 gallons of water, increasing existing storage capacity by three to four times. This significant upgrade in storage will strengthen fire protection, improve drought resilience and enhance the reliability of daily system operations. The District anticipates completing these projects by the end of the year.
