September was a big month for Joby.

Over a week of demonstration flights across Dallas-Fort Worth, we introduced Texans to our electric air taxi as part of U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.

Dallas Game Day Host Shaunda Musick was embedded with our team all week, and her behind-the-scenes look is now on YouTube.

Celebrating history at the Air Capital of the World.

Wichita is home to Cessna, now part of Textron Aviation, one of the legendary aircraft makers that earned this city its title.

So bringing our autonomous J208, built on a Cessna Caravan, to the Kansas Aviation Museum earlier this week was a true homecoming.

Bill Bergman, the experimental test pilot who flew the Caravan’s very first flight on December 9, 1982, joined us for the visit. Bill logged 420 of the aircraft’s first 450 test flight hours, and four decades later he stood beside a Caravan fresh off the first fully autonomous cross-country flight in history.

Thank you to Wichita Mayor Lily Wu, KDOT, and the Kansas Aviation Museum for hosting such a special day.

North Carolina, thank you!

From touching down on the Outer Banks after the first fully autonomous flights across the country to celebrating the future of flight with NCDOT and Governor Josh Stein Stein in Raleigh, this leg of the Electric Skies Tour was one to remember.

And while the tour rolls on, our work in North Carolina is just getting started, with eIPP operations scheduled to continue in the state.

More than 120 years after the Wright Brothers took flight at Kitty Hawk, aviation’s next chapter is being written in North Carolina.

After completing the first cross-country autonomous flight, our J208 aircraft flew from Dare County Regional Airport to Raleigh-Durham International as part of NCDOT’s eLIFT-NC First Flights Showcase, demonstrating how regional flight can expand access and connect communities across the state.

Proud to work alongside Governor Josh Stein Josh Stein, NCDOT, The FAA, U.S. Dept. of Transportation and Secretary Sean Duffy as North Carolina shapes the next era of American aviation.

The first autonomous flight across America, by the numbers:

✅ 3,199 miles flown
✅ 0 times the safety pilot touched the controls
✅ 2,323 miles: the farthest distance the aircraft was supervised from
✅ 100% of taxi, takeoff, cruise, and landing performed autonomously
✅ 1 month-long transcontinental tour, eastbound leg complete

Along the way, the J208 integrated into the nation’s busiest general aviation airport at Deer Valley and altered its mission plan in real time for changing weather.

Our electric air taxi touched down at Toyota’s North American headquarters in Plano, part of our week of demonstration flights across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Toyota has been with us for nearly a decade, from early investment to helping us design our manufacturing processes.
